St. Michael Commission/Board Openings

If you would like to become more active in city government, the St. Michael City Council is seeking applicants for several committees, including two four-year terms on the Planning and Zoning Commission, completion of one year of a vacant P&Z seat, three two-year terms on the Park Board, and one six-year term on the Economic Development Authority.

The Planning Commission advises, recommends, and assists the Council in matters relating to planning and growth of the City. The Commission consists of seven members and meets the first Wednesday evening of the Month.

There are five members on the Park Board, which meets once a month, on the fourth Wednesday evening, to consider issues relating to parks and trails, and to make recommendations to the City Council concerning those issues.

The Economic Development Authority advises the Council on matters related to economic development, including the expansion and retention of existing businesses and attracting new businesses to the community. The EDA meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at City Hall. Residents and/or business owners are welcome to apply.

Your application should be submitted to the St Michael City Clerk, 3150 Lander Avenue NE, Post Office Box 337, St Michael, MN 55376-0337 to be received by November 26, 2007. The City Council will invite applicants to their December 18, 2007, Work Session for informal interviews. Appointments will be made at the December 27 (changed due to Christmas) regular Council meeting, and new appointees will begin their terms January 2008.
